A quintillion hopes

In the mid of thousands of heads, swinging like a child, sitting on the palenquin, enters an adorned God. This reminds us a lovely poetry written by our nightingale ” Lightly O lightly, she sways like a flower.

The moment the god arrives, millions of hands rise above the thousands of heads. Lakhs of chants, crores of prayers, and millions of tears speak a trillion stories.

Some pray for their children’s welfare, some pray for their parents’ health, some for the good luck, some for the love, some for the job, some for the babies, and some for the peace and a very few for the world’s welfare and almost all the children falls under the latter ( a very few category). ” Sami, elarum nalarukanum” ( God, may all be well and happy) The purest prayer ever and it’s been resonating in the earth every now and then and been heard by the almighty and so does the earth exists. O, Ok I just got deviated from the topic.

Yes, I was speaking about their prayers!!! A beautiful moment that elucidates a quintillion hope. Everyone in the crowd has different problems; they confront different difficult things in life; they have various prayers and several desires.

From the garland makers to the camphor vendors, from the priests to the palenquin bearers, form the slipper token walas to the shop keepers, every one has numerous wishes. Their desires and problems may vary but a single solution to all their problems is hope!!!

Yes, a quintillion hope. When the whole place is filled with hope, no negative thoughts arise. I must admit that, I have experienced some surreal vibration while standing amidst them.

‘Kumbabishegam’, ‘Kandha sashti vizha’ ‘ Vaikunda ekadesi’, ‘Arudra dharisanam’ ‘Sivarathri’, ‘ Pagal pathu’, ‘Ra pathu’. Wow!!! Umpteen number of Hindu festivals. Same happens in the other religious places too. Recently I witnessed the same enthusiastic crowd at the Nagur ‘Santhanakoodu’ and ‘Velankanni Matha Feast day’. This certainly proves that, No matter what, hope prevails. Now I get the drift of the reasons behind each and every festival being celebrated in various religious places.

So, let us happily begin the new year with a temple / Church / Mosque visit and embrace positive vibes.
